The Autobots soon fled once again, and Drift was unable to intervene in the battle between Optimus and Galvatron when the drone's missile fire separated the Autobots from their leader. Drift used his helicopter mode to lift Bumblebee through the upper levels of the building to rescue Cade from Harold Attinger. Drift joined in the subsequent assault on the facility when the news came of Ratchet's brutal demise and dismemberment. "Drift, you keep up those damn fortune cookie sayings, you'll be drifting into unconsciousness pretty quick after I get my paws on ya!"ĭrift took part in Cade's mission to infiltrate KSI, providing some valuable intel to the human prior to the operation. ![]() The mood soon was dampened further when Cade had Drift (in his Bugatti vehicle mode) project footage of Ratchet and Leadfoot's demises. Holding Bumblebee at sword-point, Drift claimed to see right through Bumblebee's "puppy dog eyes" act, mocking him when such an act was beneath him. The two bots quickly came to blows with Drift gaining the upper hand over the "smartass". He couldn't resist expressing his distaste of Bumblebee's leadership and immaturity aloud, claiming that the younger Autobot brought shame upon the group. Later that night, Drift sadly reported that they were the last five Autobots, and informed Optimus of Bumblebee's stint as leader during his absence. The haiku didn't sit right with Hound, and the two nearly came to blows before their attention was turned to the arrival of Cade Yeager and his family. Though Hound cursed the humans as a "bunch of backstabbing weasels", Drift took pity on the humans, sadly reciting a haiku regarding the humans' betrayal. Drift was overjoyed at the return of his sensei, declaring there was hope after all. ![]() To his disgruntlement, Bumblebee took de facto command of the Autobots in the absence of Optimus Prime. Good luck figuring out what kind of helicopter he is.ĭrift was among the Autobots who had gone into hiding on Earth after humanity turned against the Autobots. GET OFF, you maggot!" said DriftĪge of Extinction film Voice actor: Ken Watanabe (English), Kiyomitsu Mizūchi (Japanese), more» He is sometimes partnered with the Dinobot Slug. He doesn't think much of Bumblebee's attempts to be Autobot leader, though, due to his youth and lack of warrior discipline. Knowing there is hope whenever the Autobot leader is around, Drift will follow Optimus to the bitter end. Teaming up with the rowdiest Autobots around may not be the best start, but luckily Drift gets to serve directly under Optimus Prime, who he refers to as his sensei. He's taken up meditation to complement his swordsmanship and hopefully curb this lingering rage. Drift is still prone to manic bouts of aggression if he's startled or otherwise spooked, and is quick to try to stab whatever's the problem to death. Leaving the Decepticons didn't automatically fix everything, though. Despite the dark times upon the Autobots, Drift remains calm, dignified, and thoughtful, often taking time to practice his swordsmanship and spout haikus about whatever's going on. But as far as Transformers movies go, the automotive stats really don't matter it all comes down to how cool the cars look, how much fun Bay has in making them transform into their robot forms, and how many new toy models can be produced with each film.A former Decepticon turned Autobot commando, Drift's strength lies not only in his mastery of ancient swords, but in his composure in battle. On a horsepower basis, the Bugatti has nearly twice the muscle at around 1,100 compared to the Mercedes' 600hp. ![]() The change is an interesting one considering that the Bugatti has a price tag around $2 million while the new Mercedes-AMG GT-S, the base model, starts at about $131,000 we'll see how much the movie model runs once all the amped-up extras have been added. In fact, it'll be a different style altogether than the one he sported in Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction. In that picture, the samurai-styled transforming robot appeared as a black-and-blue Bugatti Veyron not only has his color scheme been traded in for a black-and-red version this time, but the car itself has changed over to a Mercedes-AMG GT-R. While it's yet to be confirmed that Ken Watanabe will return for Michael Bay's Transformers: The Last Knight, we now know that his Autobot character Drift will definitely be back in style.
